About the film
Ilya Oblomov spends his days on the sofa in his dressing gown, avoiding every decision. His childhood friend Stolz, practical and successful, tries to wake him up.
Stolz introduces him to Olga, and for a while love gives Oblomov a reason to move. But can a man whose ideal is peace ever really change, and should he?
Mikhalkov's beautiful, gentle film makes Goncharov's famous lazybones a sympathetic and very human figure.
