About the film

A Moscow film crew has fled to a southern seaside town held by the Whites, where they are trying to finish a romantic melodrama called A Slave of Love. Its star, Olga Voznesenskaya, lives in a world of film sets, champagne and gossip.

Her cameraman, Pototsky, is secretly filming the atrocities of the Whites for the Reds. Through him Olga begins to see the real world, and to choose a side.

Elegant, nostalgic and sad, the film is also a love letter to the early days of cinema.
