About the film
At the start of the 20th century in the Carpathian borderlands, the daring horse thief Loiko Zobar meets Rada, a beautiful Roma girl rumoured to be a witch. Their love is as fierce as their pride.
Emil Loteanu fills the screen with horses, fires, wide landscapes and, above all, Roma songs and dances. The film works almost like a musical.
It was the most watched film in the USSR in 1976 and is still loved for its music and its wild romanticism.
