About the film
After the war, five-year-old Seryozha's mother remarries. The new man in the house, Korostelyov, is the director of the local collective farm, and Seryozha calls him by his surname.
Korostelyov is the only adult who treats him as a real person, and the film sees everything through the boy's eyes: neighbours, games, small injustices and the terrible possibility of being left behind when the family moves.
Gentle and true, Seryozha was the first feature by Georgiy Danelia, who would later make Mimino and Autumn Marathon.
