About the film

Nekrasov is a film cameraman, educated and a little lost in the war. Karyakin, a sharp-eyed Red Army man, is assigned to look after him, and does not trust him one bit.

Their mission is aerial reconnaissance: fly over the White Army's defences in Crimea and film them. Their first flight ends in a crash, and the odd couple must keep going together.

Funny and tragic at once, the film shows the Civil War from both sides. Vladimir Vysotsky, the great singer-poet, gives a powerful performance as a White officer.
