About the film
Kostik, a carefree young graduate student, comes to live with his aunt in a crowded communal flat near Pokrovsky Gates in old Moscow. His neighbours include a former husband and wife who still share the flat, and the wife's new, very timid husband.
Kostik falls in and out of love, helps everyone and gets into trouble, while the adults around him have their own comic and sad stories.
Made for television, The Pokrovsky Gates became a cult favourite, loved for its nostalgia for old Moscow and its witty lines.
