About the film

Far in the Soviet Arctic, a small aviation unit guards a vital route. The place looks quiet: snow, sea and endless sky. But German planes are coming, and the young pilots must hold out with very little.

The film follows the men of the unit, their friendships and losses, in the long polar days and nights.

A modest but sincere war drama, it is one of the few Soviet films about the war in the far north.
