About the film
The first half follows the private lives of a Tu-154 crew: the strict veteran commander, the womanising flight engineer and the young co-pilot with family troubles.
Then, on a flight to a foreign country, an earthquake strikes the airport city and an oil fire races towards the runway. With the plane damaged and hundreds of passengers on board, the crew must take off anyway, and the film becomes a breathtaking rescue in the air.
Air Crew was the first Soviet disaster film made in the Hollywood style and one of the biggest hits of its time.
